THE PUBLICATION PROCESS

Azalea Art Press offers one-on-one attention and a very streamlined and economical publishing process. If you are looking for highly profession-al results and creative control over the look and feel of your book, you’ve come to the right place!

I am a hybrid publisher, which means that I work with authors on a pay-for-services basis to create and put their work into print.

I partner exclusively with www.Lulu.com, a print-on-demand company in North Carolina  that provides the services of printing, ordering, shipping, distribution, and royalty accounting. This makes it a very efficient and cost effective way to create, publish, and get your book out into the world—whether in paperback or hardcover formats or E-book form.

Once we have a polished manuscript, your book can be ready for anyone in the world to order either directly through the www.Lulu.com website, your own web page, or after a brief lead time, retail and wholesale venues like Barnes&Noble, Amazon, and others.

Publishing your book is divided into three phases:

I.

Manuscript Development

In this phase we gather all the raw materials for the writing or editing of your story. We can begin this part of the process from scratch or with a manuscript or outline that you already have written.

Some elements of developing your manuscript may include writing (or ghostwriting), editing, cover designs, image editing, and of course, eagle-eye proofreading.

This also can also encompass the  scanning of photos and any other  documents and images. For memoirs, this may include interviews in person, by phone, by email, or a combination of these.

Once all the elements are gathered, your story will be put into manuscript form and a draft will be sent to you for your approval.

Your book will be personally edited and proofread until it is letter perfect. Only then do we then proceed to the Book Production phase.

II.

Book Production

Your book production phase encompasses the professional design of your book covers, composing book jacket and any marketing copy, putting the finishing touches on your author biography, and the other elements needed to complete your book.

These generally include a dedication, your references, acknowledgments, and any appendices. We will work together to create any special formatting for the inside of your book.

Once you are happy with the look of your book, it is uploaded to www.Lulu.com, a print-on-demand company  that provides streamlined services of printing, ordering, shipping, global distribution, and royalty accounting.

III.

Publication

Once your manuscript and covers are uploaded, we will then order proofs to insure that everything is exactly how you envisioned it.

Your book will then go officially to press! A most exciting moment!

It will be instantly available at www.Lulu.com and after a brief lead time, from retail venues and wholesalers.

I am happy to assist you in setting up and orchestrating your local book signings, creating a blog or web page, and promoting your book through email, posters, flyers and other venues. Together, we will find a strategy that best fits your individual style and needs.

Like all things that are well done, exceptional books are  a labor of love. I devote myself to my clients and find that in addition to being creative collaborators we often become good friends in the process.

I look forward to learning more about you & working with you! Please get in touch here and I'll be happy to forward you a personalized proposal for your next book project.

Thanks so much!
